Kensington and Hillhurst
Heritage main streets north of the Bow.

Altadore takes its name from the high ground (“alta”) above the Elbow River. Developed mostly after the Second World War, it has become one of Calgary’s most active infill neighbourhoods while keeping its mature trees and wide streets.
What it’s like to live here
River Park and Sandy Beach along the Elbow are the neighbourhood’s pride: off-leash trails, picnic spots and a summer river float launch. Marda Loop’s shops and restaurants are a short walk away.
Real estate snapshot
Expect architect-designed infills and semi-detached homes alongside original post-war bungalows, many on 50-foot lots that are prized by builders. It is an excellent area for buyers who want a newer family home without moving to the suburbs.
Why buyers choose Altadore
- Parks and river access
- Modern homes on established streets
- Quick commute to downtown
